The Joint Seat Allocation Authority, abbreviated as JoSAA, is an organisation established by the Ministry of Education, previously known as the HRD Ministry, to oversee and regulate admissions to 110 tertiary institutions under the purview of the Government of India. For the academic year 2023-24, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2023 has been instituted by the Ministry of Education (formerly the Ministry of Human Resources Development, or MHRD) to manage and administer the joint seat allocation process for admissions to 118 institutions. These include 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 38 Other Technical Institutes funded either fully or partially by Central or State Governments (Other-GFTIs). Admission to all programs offered by these institutes will be conducted through a unified platform.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will conduct online counselling for JEE Main 2024. Detailed information regarding JoSAA counselling 2024 will be provided on the official website, josaa.nic.in. Candidates who qualify for the JEE Main exam will be eligible to participate in JoSAA 2024 counselling. The dates for JEE Main 2024 counselling will be announced on the official website. To take part in the counselling process, candidates must complete the JEE Mains counselling registration online. JEE Main Counselling 2024 is organised for admission to NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs.

Only registered candidates are eligible to participate in the NTA JEE Main 2024 counselling. Candidates are advised to review the eligibility criteria for JEE Main Counselling 2024 before applying. The counselling process for JEE Main 2024 through JoSAA comprises various steps, including registration, choice filling, locking of choices, seat allotment, and payment of seat acceptance fee. JoSAA will also conduct two rounds of mock seat allotment for JEE Mains before the actual counselling rounds of JEE Main 2024, aimed at assisting students in understanding the complete counselling process.

The counselling process for JEE Main 2024 involves several steps, beginning with registration and extending to choice filling, among others. Below is a detailed, step-by-step outline of the process for applying to JEE Main 2024 counselling:

1. Online Registration

Candidates can register for JoSAA 2024 on the official website josaa.nic.in using their JEE Main 2024 application number, password, and security pin. Carefully fill in all required details and click on the "Confirm Registration" tab to complete the process.

2. Choice Selection and Locking

Candidates are required to select their preferred programs and colleges. Once the final choices are made, candidates must lock them before the registration deadline. Choices can be edited and locked after each round of JEE Main Counselling 2024.

3. JEE Main JoSAA 2024 Seat Allotment

JoSAA will allocate the most suitable seat to candidates based on their choices, JEE Main 2024 All India Rank (AIR), category, and seat availability. Candidates will receive notification of seat allocation via SMS/email to their registered contact details.

4. Seat Acceptance Fee Payment and Document Verification

Upon seat allocation, candidates must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee for the allotted seat. Payment can be made through e-Challan or Net Banking. The seat acceptance fee varies depending on the category:

After completing registration and paying the seat acceptance fee, candidates will be summoned to the reporting centre for document verification. They will also receive a provisional admission letter.

Subsequently, candidates must proceed to the allotted college, where they will undergo final document verification and complete the admission process.

Following the JEE Main 2024 seat allotment, candidates will have three options:

1. Freeze: If satisfied with the allotted seat and not interested in participating in further counselling rounds.

2. Float: If content with the seat but wish to explore other institutes during subsequent seat allocation rounds.

3. Slide: If accepting the allotted seat but open to admission into a higher preferred course within the same institute.

JEE Main 2024 Special Round Counselling

After completing the JoSAA counselling, the authorities conduct the JEE Main 2024 Special Round Counselling. The JEE Main special round counselling will be held for admission to NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and GFTIs. To participate in the special round of counselling, candidates have to register separately for CSAB (CENTRAL SEAT ALLOCATION BOARD).
