KVPY and the JEE/NEET Aspirants – A Roadmap
Kishore Vigyanik Protsaahan Yojana (KVPY) is the flagship annual exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc), funded and governed under the aegis of the Department of Science and technology. KVPY is a fellowship program in basic science for Class 11th, Class 12th and Undergraduate students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realize their academic potential; and cultivate them to pursue their careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country. It is just as important as an exam as the Maths, Chemistry and Physics.
In the academic and the technical exam-oriented community, KVPY is widely regarded as a stepping stone for NEET/JEE preparations. The highly motivated students who are able to perform well in the KVPY exams are considered prodigies and considered as the forerunners in the JEE exam selections, so it goes without saying that the KVPY exams are a prelude to the ITT-JEE aspirants.
Under the KVPY exam, the eligible students are offered scholarships and contingency grants up until the pre-PhD levels, and the ongoing pandemic has resulted in the postponement of the KVPY exam. With the COVID 19 situation, the eligibility criteria for KVPY Steam SA exam for class 11th, KVPY Stream SX for Class 12th. And KVPY Stream SB for UG (Undergraduate) Students.
KVPY 2022 Exams: The stepping stone towards JEE/NEET Exams
Indian Institute of Science is the most prestigious institute of post-graduate learning, faring far better, even when compared to the likes to the IITs and the IIM. The level of the KVPY exams is akin to the JEE and NEET exam, and will also serve as the platform to measure, analyse and get toe to toe with the top talents across the country.
Moreover, the syllabus of the KVPY examination is the same as the syllabus of the JEE examination, so it turns out to be an excellent exercise for the aspirants. The selection rate of KVPY exam is 1.8% only, and the exam pattern of KVPY is relatively tougher than JEE mains and is potentially just as tough as JEE Advanced.
The NTA releases the JEE Main Syllabus. For the preparation of JEE, students need to prepare from subjects including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Likewise, for KVPY preparation, one needs to prepare from PCM as well as Biology. KVPY SX Syllabus 2020 consists of topics from classes 10, 11 and 12. For SB Stream, the KVPY Syllabus will also comprise topics from first-year under graduation besides syllabus from classes 11 and 12. The question paper of KVPY is divided into 2 parts having 4 sub-sections (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) each. Applicants must attempt 3 sub-sections in Part I and 2 sub-sections of Part II. It is advised to be thorough with NCERT books for KVPY, but for JEE, students must refer to other books for preparation.
Eligibility Criteria:
The KVPY 2022 Application form can be filled by prospective candidates only digitally, and the application forms can be filled out, from the First week of September 2022.
The tentative last date of exam submission is scheduled to be the in the last week of October 2022.

Without a shadow of a doubt, KVPY preparation is more or less intermingled with the preparations of JEE as well as NEET, and KVPY is the foundation of excellence in the JEE exams.
